NuSTAR Observation of LS 5039

چکیده
LS 5039 is a high-mass gamma-ray binary hosting compact object of unknown type. NuSTAR observed during its entire 3.9 day period. We performed periodic signal search up to 1000 Hz which did not produce credible period candidates. do see the 9.05 s candidate, originally reported by Yoneda et al. 2020 using same data, in Fourier power spectrum, but we find that statistical significance this feature too low claim it as real detection. also significant bursts or quasi-periodic variability. The modulation with orbital clearly seen and remains unchanged over decade long timescale when compared earlier Suzaku light curve. joint analysis XIS data shows 0.7-70 keV spectrum can be satisfactory described single absorbed power-law model no evidence cutoff at higher energies. slope anti-correlates flux orbit. Therefore, if hosts young neutron star, X-ray pulsations appear outshined intrabinary shock emission. lack spectral lines and/or an exponential energies suggests putative star actively accreting. Although black hole scenario still possibility, variability Fe K$\alpha$ lines, typically accompany accretion, makes less likely.

متن کاملPulsar wind zone processes in LS 5039
Several γ-ray binaries have been recently detected by the High-Energy Stereoscopy Array (H.E.S.S.) and the Major Atmospheric Imaging Cerenkov (MAGIC) telescope. In at least two cases, their nature is unknown. In this paper we aim to provide the details of a theoretical model of close γ-ray binaries containing a young energetic pulsar as compact object, earlier presented in recent Letters. This ...
متن کاملConfirmation of persistent radio jets in the microquasar LS 5039
We present here new observations conducted with the EVN and MERLIN of the persistent microquasar LS 5039 discovered by Paredes et al. (2000) with the VLBA. The new observations confirm the presence of an asymmetric two-sided jet reaching up to ∼ 1000 AU on the longest jet arm. The results suggest a bending of the jets with increasing distance from the core and/or precession. The origin and loca...
متن کاملEVN and MERLIN confirmation of the LS 5039 jets
The microquasar nature of LS 5039 was revealed by May 1999 VLBA+VLA observations showing a twosided jet at milliarcsecond scales. Here we present follow-up interferometric observations carried out with the EVN and MERLIN at 5 GHz in March 2000. The obtained maps with both the EVN and MERLIN show a two-sided jet with a similar position angle to the previous VLBA+VLA map. The total length of the ...
متن کاملSpectral energy distribution of the gamma - ray microquasar LS 5039
The microquasar LS 5039 has recently been detected as a source of very high energy (VHE) γ-rays. This detection, that confirms the previously proposed association of LS 5039 with the EGRET source 3EG J1824−1514, makes of LS 5039 a special system with observational data covering nearly all the electromagnetic spectrum. In order to reproduce the observed spectrum of LS 5039, from radio to VHE γ-r...
